Note: Materials other than PLA and TPU recommend glue application. You will not get the mirror finish of the LUX surface when applying glue, and the surface may still become marred by other non-PLA/TPU filaments. This is a TPU and PLA plate.

LUX Plates have a mirror finish that tends to falsely trigger Bambu Lab's "Foreign Object Detection" before each print, requiring the user to manually dismiss the warning. Please consider that before purchasing. ?

Bambu Lab's Foreign Object Detection occasionally misidentifies the highly reflective surface of LUX plates as a foreign object on the build plate. When this happens, the printer will pause before the print begins and prompt you to manually confirm before continuing. As of May 2026, this check cannot be disabled, and the prompt may appear before every print, though how often it triggers seems to vary by printer.

Recommended Settings

Here are some good starting points for various materials. Please note that if you print using a material other than PLA or TPU, glue will likely be required. The glue is used for release from the plate and sometimes for additional adhesion. PVA glue sticks spread with water or IPA are recommended.

PETG always requires glue for release or permanent damage to the build plate can be expected.

Users should assume that glue is required outside of PLA and TPU and may experiment with small prints in far corners of the build plate if they want to see if glue may not be required.

Damage to the build plate can be mitigated by gently roughing the surface with sand paper. Please see the Darkmoon LUX Build Plate User Guide for more information on how to maintain, clean, and service your LUX build plate.
